The Elizabeth Cardinals will square off against the Woodland Park Panthers at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Elizabeth will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Elizabeth is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Sierra get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Cardinals have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jeremy Waymire was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Cohen Steinke was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Moons, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Elizabeth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Woodland Park was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Colorado Springs Christian by a score of 3-2.
Woodland Park saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Strouse, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Gabe Marquez was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Elizabeth pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Woodland Park, their loss dropped their record down to 13-3.
Both Elizabeth and Woodland Park just can't seem to miss. The Cardinals have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12 hits per game. However, it's not like Woodland Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Elizabeth's way against Woodland Park in their previous matchup back in May of 2019, as Elizabeth made off with a 16-1 win. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
