Softball Recap: Newberry's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Newberry had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Keystone Heights Indians on Thursday. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on five straight.

Malana Kennard was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Mattson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Newberry's record is now 20-5. As for Keystone Heights, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season.

As of now, neither Newberry nor Keystone Heights have any future games scheduled.
