Softball Game Preview: Deering Rams vs. Sanford Spartans

Deering is 1-6 against Sanford since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rams will look to defend their home field against the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Deering has given up an average of 14.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Deering took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Noble, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rams skirted past the Knights 12-11. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rams needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Sanford lost 16-1 to Cheverus on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Stags: they've now lost four in a row.

Sanford saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bree Tyler, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Deering's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-11. As for Sanford, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.

Deering got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 against Sanford by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
