Baseball Game Preview: Goochland Bulldogs vs. Charlottesville Black Knights

The Goochland Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Charlottesville Black Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Goochland barely beat Amelia County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Charlottesville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Waynesboro 9-7. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Black Knights as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Julian Mark-Williams looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Charlottesville let Abe Jaspen and Jayden Butler run wild. Jaspen went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Butler went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Butler a new career-high. Mason Divers also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Goochland's record now sits at 6-8. As for Charlottesville, their record is now 8-5.

Goochland beat Charlottesville 8-4 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
