Basketball Recap: Wellington-Napoleon Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hardin-Central last Thursday, Wellington-Napoleon came back down to earth. The Wellington-Napoleon Tigers fell 60-48 to the St. Paul Lutheran Saints on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Saints: they've now lost four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Wellington-Napoleon lost, don't look at Jonny Hampton. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 12 en route to 19 points. That's the most points Hampton has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Mefferd, who had ten points.

Wellington-Napoleon's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for St. Paul Lutheran, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wellington-Napoleon will take on Santa Fe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Paul Lutheran, they will face off against Concordia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
