Basketball Recap: Jayden Huff's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Maryville Christian over Valmeyer

Maryville Christian lost against Valmeyer back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Maryville Christian Lions fell 53-44 to the Valmeyer Pirates.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Huff, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 13 points and six boards. That's the most rebounds Huff has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Levi Gray, who scored 13 points along with five boards and three steals.

Maryville Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 16 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season. Valmeyer's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-15.

Maryville Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-37 loss against First Baptist Academy on the 21st. As for Valmeyer, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-46 win against Lebanon on the 21st.
