Baseball Recap: Kingfisher Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for Kingfisher's offense. They fell just short of the Woodward Boomers by a score of 1-0 on Monday. The Yellowjackets' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.

Trypp Lack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cooper Henley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brett Calamateo also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Kingfisher's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Woodward, they moved to 6-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

While Kingfisher had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
