Recap: Laney Buccaneers vs. White Oak Vikings
The Laney Buccaneers put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 49-48 win over White Oak. That's another feather in the cap for Laney, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Laney found their leader in underclassman Colin Lamb, who scored 16 points. Hezron Driver was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 11 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why White Oak lost, one person who can't be blamed is Derrick Benbow jr. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. The match was Benbow jr's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaemon Noel, who scored 9 points along with 11 rebounds and 5 steals.
Laney's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for White Oak, their loss dropped their record down to 4-1.
Laney will be playing at home against Pender at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for White Oak, they will head out on the road to face off against Jacksonville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
