Baseball Recap: Cranston West Wins Going Away Against North Kingstown

Cranston West hadn't done well against North Kingstown recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Skippers with a sharp 9-1 victory. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Skippers on Wednesday, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Alex Milano made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Logan Taylor was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Cranston West's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-11 when he doesn't). Nick DiLorenzo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Cranston West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Cranston West has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for North Kingstown, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 12-5 record.

Looking ahead, Cranston West will be playing in front of their home fans against Moses Brown at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Falcons are on a three-game streak of home losses, and the Quakers a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck. North Kingstown has already played their next matchup (against Waterford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
