Softball Recap: Farmville Central Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Farmville Central proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the North Johnston Panthers, sneaking past 5-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-3 back in March.

The team relied heavily on Michele Wirth, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games she's played. Claire Neely was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Farmville Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in ten consecutive matchups.

Farmville Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for North Johnston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Farmville Central will head out on the road to take on North Pitt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for North Johnston, they will be playing at home against South Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
