League recap: No. 1 Mariposa County defeats No. 2 Le Grand to stay on top

Southern league recap: 5/7/12

The league's top two teams in the standings locked horns this week, as Le Grand took home a 4-2 victory over Mariposa County on May 2, 2012. Mariposa County sits in first place in Southern at 11-1 (14-4 overall).

Dominic Nelson was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a .429 average, one home run and six RBIs. Meanwhile, Ripon Christian put together a 2-0 week.

The Knights's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only one hits and zero walks, both of which led the league. Ripon Christian has given up a mere 101 hits on the year in addition to compiling 187 strikeouts. Colby Devries is the leader in that category with 108 Ks on the season.

Even after stealing 15 bases to lead the league over the past week, the Knights are still looking up at Le Grand, which ranks No. 1 in steals, with 86 on the year. DeVries has racked up 32 steals on his own this season for Ripon Christian.
