Recap: Panhandle Panthers vs. Saint Mary's Hall Barons
The Panhandle Panthers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took down Saint Mary's Hall 57-42. Given Panhandle's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Saint Mary's Hall is ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Saint Mary's Hall still got an impressive performance from Sedelia Wilson-larkin, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Wilson-larkin scored a full 50% of Saint Mary's Hall's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Isabella (Beya) Chase, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Panhandle's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Saint Mary's Hall, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-3.
Panhandle won't have much time to rest: their next game is against New Home at 10:30 a.m. on December 30th. New Home will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Saint Mary's Hall's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lubbock Christian at 9:00 a.m. on December 30th.
