Basketball Game Preview: Las Plumas Thunderbirds vs. Gridley Bulldogs

Las Plumas and Gridley are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Las Plumas Thunderbirds will venture away from home to face off against the Gridley Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Las Plumas is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Last Tuesday, Las Plumas sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-44 win over Orland.

Las Plumas' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Hepworth, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana Carrillo, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 13 points.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, Gridley was not quite Oroville's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They took a hard 50-31 fall against the Tigers. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gridley's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Las Plumas, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7.

Las Plumas skirted past Gridley 46-43 in their previous meeting on January 14th. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Gridley's Brook Marr, who went 6 of 15 en route to 21 points along with seven boards and five blocks.
