Basketball Recap: Ethel Walker Takes a Loss

Ethel Walker easily dispatched Miss Porter's last Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Ethel Walker fell just short of the Northfield Mount Hermon Hoggers by a score of 45-42 on Saturday.

When it comes to explaining why Ethel Walker lost, don't look at Liana Salamone. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 boards. With that strong performance, Salamone is now averaging an impressive 8.4 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Wry, who posted six points.

Even though they lost, Ethel Walker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Ethel Walker now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Northfield Mount Hermon, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Ethel Walker will welcome Taft School at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northfield Mount Hermon, they will venture away from home to square off against Choate Rosemary Hall School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
