Basketball Game Preview: Silver Creek Raptors vs. Longmont Trojans

Silver Creek is on a six-game streak of home losses, Longmont a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Thursday. The Silver Creek Raptors will welcome the Longmont Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Silver Creek is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since January 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 68-38 defeat at the hands of Legacy. While losing is never fun, the Raptors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Lightning are ranked 37th).

Meanwhile, Longmont fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Erie on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 58-51 to the Tigers.

Longmont's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Silver Creek, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Silver Creek won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in February of 2024, slipping by Longmont 57-56. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Longmont's Cole Corner, who went 11 of 21 en route to 35 points. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for Silver Creek to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
