Preview: Greene Central Rams vs. North Pitt Panthers

Greene Central is 10-0 against North Pitt since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Greene Central Rams will head out on the road to challenge the North Pitt Panthers at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Greene Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.

Greene Central lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They were the victim of a tough 85-63 loss at the hands of Farmville Central. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Greene Central has suffered against Farmville Central since January 14, 2022.

Greene Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Denelly Coppedge, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, and Deitrich Williams who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 0 assists. Williams' trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Michael Suggs Jr., who scored nine points.

Meanwhile, North Pitt's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. Their tough 82-59 loss to J.H. Rose might stick with them for a while. North Pitt has struggled against J.H. Rose recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Loss or not, North Pitt got some senior leadership from Jamarcus Pippens and Keymauri Brooks. Pippens scored 13 points along with two steals, while Brooks. scored 16 points. Brooks hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. Zahmerrion Exum was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.

Greene Central's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for North Pitt, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-15.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Greene Central hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.5 points per game. However, it's not like North Pitt struggles in that department as they've been averaging 55 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Greene Central took their victory against North Pitt when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 77-54. With Greene Central ahead 44-23 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
