JW North suffers fifth straight loss on the road

Recap: JW North Huskies vs. Hillcrest Trojans

The JW North Huskies pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hillcrest. While losing is never fun, JW North can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 485th, while Hillcrest is ranked 69th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hillcrest to victory, but perhaps none more so than McKel Shedrick, who scored 20 points along with five assists. The game was Shedrick's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Bowden, who scored 16 points.

JW North's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-7. As for Hillcrest, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. JW North will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Genevieve at 9:30 a.m. on December 26th. As for Hillcrest, they will head out on the road to face off against Murrieta Mesa at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
