Recap: Westgate Tigers vs. Lafayette Christian Academy Knights
The Westgate Tigers lost against the Lafayette Christian Academy Knights back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Westgate was beaten by Lafayette Christian Academy 42-11. It was the first time this season that Westgate let down their fans at home.
Lafayette Christian Academy was led to victory by Jalen Noel and Jujuan Johnson. Noel gained 203 total yards and two touchdowns, while Johnson rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Noel was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Calvin "tre" Parker was another key contributor, rushing for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Westgate has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for Lafayette Christian Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westgate will take on St. Thomas More at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Thomas More knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Westgate likes a good challenge. As for Lafayette Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Vermilion at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Vermilion is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
