Football Recap: Aurora Central Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hinkley last Thursday, Aurora Central came back down to earth. The Trojans had to suffer through a 49-18 loss at the hands of the Montbello Warriors. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 30-18 to the Warriors when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Montbello's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amari Williams, who rushed for 113 yards and two scores on only 14 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyaire Custis, who gained 69 total yards and two touchdowns.

Aurora Central moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Montbello, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Aurora Central is set to take on their familiar foe George Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Markell Perkins and Corey Dobbs. Meanwhile, Montbello will challenge rival Northfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
