Softball Recap: Rancho Cucamonga Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Citrus Valley, Rancho Cucamonga was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Walnut Mustangs. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jordin Washington was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sam Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Rancho Cucamonga pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Walnut, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.

Rancho Cucamonga and Walnut could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Cougars (ranked 293rd) will meet Bonita (ranked 52nd) at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Walnut will challenge Ayala at 3:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (631 vs. 19).
