Baseball Recap: Franklin Community Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

While Franklin Community put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Martinsville. The Grizzly Cubs put the hurt on the Artesians with a sharp 11-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Grizzly Cubs in their matchups with the Artesians: they've now won nine in a row.

Greyson Betts made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Owen Bullington was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted over his last ten contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Carsten Bland, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Franklin Community pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Martinsville, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Franklin Community will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Artesians: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
