Softball Recap: Western Wayne Finds Home Field Redemption Against Carbondale Area

There's no place like home for Western Wayne, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against the Carbondale Area Chargers by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won five in a row.

Adysen Wargo made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah DeStefano, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Western Wayne's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Carbondale Area, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
