Football Recap: Glenelg Gladiators vs. South Carroll Cavaliers
Glenelg had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the South Carroll Cavaliers on Friday as they made off with a 37-14 victory. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Gladiators were the (much) better team in the second half.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Glenelg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dwane Morgan, who rushed for 140 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries. Russell McIntyre also helped out as he racked up 100 rushing yards.
Glenelg's run defense was locked in: South Carroll could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Cole Wagoner for the heroic effort on defense: he. Glenelg didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.3.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Glenelg, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Tyler Blayman, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Looking ahead, Glenelg will welcome River Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Gladiators' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for South Carroll, they will head out on the road to square off against Walkersville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
