Football Recap: Glenelg Starts off Right with Win over South Carroll

Glenelg had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the South Carroll Cavaliers 37-14 on Friday. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Gladiators were the (much) better team in the second half.

Among those leading the charge was Russell McIntyre, who rushed for 100 yards and one TD. Wesley Horsman got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Glenelg proved: they limited South Carroll to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Cole Wagoner for the heroic effort on defense: he. Glenelg didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.6.

Looking ahead, Glenelg will square off against River Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Gladiators their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for South Carroll, they will challenge Walkersville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
