Basketball Recap: Oxford Comes Up Short

Oxford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 71-61 to the Octorara Area Braves. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 595th, while the Braves are ranked 129th).

Oxford's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Octorara Area, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxford will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against Lampeter-Strasburg at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Octorara Area, they will head out to square off against Brandywine Heights Area at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Octorara Area's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
