Baseball Recap: Navajo Prep Extends Winning Streak to Five

Navajo Prep barely beat Tohatchi the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Khol Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Navajo Prep let Koltyn Holyan and Jashyro Bileen run wild. Holyan went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Bileen went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Bileen is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Keith Dodge, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Navajo Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in six consecutive matches.

Navajo Prep's record is now 7-13. As for Tohatchi, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.

Navajo Prep will take on Wingate at 3:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Tohatchi, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 19-1 victory against Northwest on the 17th.
