Portsmouth waltzed into their game on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Chesapeake Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Landon Malone was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, J.T. Williams and Jacob Roth did most of the damage at the plate: Williams went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Roth went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Williams has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Colin Perry, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Portsmouth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Portsmouth's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Chesapeake, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Coming up, Portsmouth will face off against Green at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 3.9, the Bobcats 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Chesapeake, they will square off against St. Joseph Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Irish have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
