Softball Recap: Metea Valley Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Metea Valley had lost ten straight, but after bumping their record up to 5-14 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Naperville North Huskies by a score of 10-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Elise McMurray-Kendall looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Maielle Ernser was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Wipff, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Metea Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

As for Naperville North, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-17. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Naperville North's side, Gabi Chmiel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Marino, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Metea Valley will face off against Neuqua Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Naperville North, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Batavia at 9:00 a.m.
