Football Recap: Leland Garcia and Amari Gardner Secure Win for Bloomington

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Van Vleck, Bloomington was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Danbury Panthers 37-16. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats/Lady Cats, who have now won three contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Amari Gardner and Leland Garcia. Gardner rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown on only five carries while Garcia picked up 93 receiving yards and one score. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 59 yards. Bloomington also got a significant boost from Don Reyes, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 99 yards.

Bloomington's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Danbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coincidentally, Bloomington and Danbury will both be playing Flatonia the next time they take the field. The Bobcats/Lady Cats will host the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on October 10.
