Basketball Game Preview: San Marcos Knights vs. Poway Titans

The San Marcos Knights will head out to square off against the Poway Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in San Marcos' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.

Last Friday, San Marcos beat Mission Hills 63-54. The Knights pushed the score to 51-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Grizzlies cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Marcos to victory, but perhaps none more so than Richie Ramirez, who went 5 for 10 en route to 18 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards. Ramirez's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Williams, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Poway suffered their biggest loss since December 21, 2024 on Friday. They lost 40-20 to Del Norte. The game marked the Titans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Poway's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for San Marcos, their win bumped their record up to 19-3.

San Marcos took their victory against Poway in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 65-41. Will San Marcos repeat their success, or does Poway have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
