Baseball Preview: Sandusky Blue Streaks vs. Perkins Pirates
Sandusky hasn't had much luck against Perkins recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Blue Streaks will welcome the Pirates at 4:45 p.m. Sandusky knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Perkins likes a good challenge.
Sandusky couldn't beat St. Joseph Central Catholic on Tuesday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the third inning. The Blue Streaks and the Crimson Streaks finished up their matchup with a 12-12 tie.
Meanwhile, Perkins posted their closest victory since April 1st on Monday. They skirted past Columbian 5-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.
Braxden Martin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since April 1st. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bryce Davie was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Carter Koch also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Perkins' win bumped their record up to 11-4. Sandusky's tie gives them a new season record of 10-8-1.
