Volleyball Recap: Pike County Pirates vs. St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings
Pike County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 2-0 to the St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings on Thursday. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2020.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-14.
Leading St. Anne-Pacelli to victory were Allie Vickery and Mariah O'Brien. Vickery had nine digs and one assist, while O'Brien had four aces. Those nine digs gave Vickery a new career-high.
The victory was the sixth in a row (dating back to last season) for St. Anne-Pacelli, bringing their record up to 2-0.
Coincidentally, Pike County and St. Anne-Pacelli will both be playing Upson-Lee the next time they take the court. The Vikings will host the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Pirates will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
