Basketball Game Preview: Davie War Eagles vs. East Forsyth Eagles

Two dominant guards in Avarie Martin and Mya Booth are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Davie War Eagles will challenge the East Forsyth Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Davie sitting on eight straight wins and East Forsyth on three.

Last Tuesday, Davie beat Parkland 81-70. Given the War Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Mustangs are ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for East Forsyth on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Reagan with a sharp 62-38 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

Davie better focus on containing Booth and Landry Tsujii as the pair were huge in East Forsyth's win. Booth dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards, while Tsujii went 7-for-9 to rack up 18 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Booth has posted since back in December of 2024. Alyssa Jessup was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Davie's win bumped their record up to 19-6. As for East Forsyth, their victory bumped their record up to 18-5.

Davie couldn't quite finish off East Forsyth when the teams last played back in January and fell 35-33. Can Davie avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
