Basketball Recap: Coffee Comes Up Short

Coffee's game on Friday was all tied up 27-27 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 53-46 to the Houston County Bears. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Coffee lost, don't look at Tresean Smith. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 14 en route to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in shooting accuracy (57%).

It was another big night for Josh Jackson, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points and four steals for Houston County. Jackson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Malik Gillespie was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

Coffee's loss dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Houston County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Coffee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-45 defeat against Lee County on the 8th. Houston County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
