Basketball Recap: Pilibos Extends Winning Streak to Five

Pilibos waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 60-51 victory over the Cypress Centurions. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Centurions are ranked 111th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pilibos got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Antranik Balian out in front who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 boards. Balian's afternoon made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was David Boyadjian, who made all 6 shots he took from beyond the arc racking up 18 points.

Pilibos' victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.8 points per game. As for Cypress, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Pilibos will venture away from home to challenge Pacifica Christian/Orange County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pilibos knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Pacifica Christian/Orange County likes a good challenge. As for Cypress, they will be taking part in a tournament against Colony at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
