Recap: Baptist Hill Bobcats vs. Military Magnet Academy Eagles
After flying high against the Lowcountry Leadership NaviGators last Tuesday, the Baptist Hill Bobcats came back down to earth. Baptist Hill was dealt a 98-9 loss at the hands of Military Magnet Academy on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Baptist Hill has scored all season.
Baptist Hill lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Emerald Alford, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Alford has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.
Military Magnet Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sabri Mitchell led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 15 steals. Mitchell is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jada Davis, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 steals.
Baptist Hill has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Military Magnet Academy, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5.
Baptist Hill will take on Charleston Math & Science at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Charleston Math & Science is ranked 230th, while Baptist Hill is ranked 232nd). Military Magnet Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Myers Park at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Myers Park will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
