Basketball Recap: Johnson Takes a Loss

Johnson extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-5. They took a blow against the Butler Lynx, falling 72-22. The game marked the Pumas' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for Butler, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Butler's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Julius Hamlin Jr, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. Hamlin Jr has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Blake McPherson, who went 9-for-13 to rack up 20 points and eight rebounds.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Johnson will take on Bulls College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Butler, they and Taft will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played.
