Baseball Recap: Cypress Park Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cypress Park ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Waller Bulldogs, sneaking past 2-1.

Chris Vizcaino spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kai Daniells, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Cypress Park has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-17 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Waller, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-17-1.

Cypress Park will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
