Volleyball Game Preview: Elmwood Trojans vs. Macomb Bombers

Elmwood is 0-4 against Macomb since October of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Bombers at 7:00 p.m. The last four games Elmwood has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Elmwood didn't have quite enough to beat Peoria Christian and fell 2-1.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Elmwood sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 22-25, 27-25.

The losing side was boosted by Sami Centers, who had 12 digs.

Meanwhile, Macomb was able to grind out a solid victory over West Prairie on Wednesday, taking the game 2-0. The Bombers haven't had any issues with the Cyclones recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Macomb took both sets by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-13.

Elmwood's loss dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Macomb, their victory bumped their record up to 16-11.

Elmwood couldn't quite get it done against Macomb in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
