Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maumee). They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Archbold Blue Streaks on Tuesday. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Blue Streaks, too.
Hannah Ruiz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Maumee let Taylor Smith and Reign Hurt run wild. Smith scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Hurt scored two runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits Hurt has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Autumn Gugger, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.
Maumee now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Archbold, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.
Looking ahead, Maumee will square off against Findlay at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Archbold, they will face off against Northview at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
