The Gray's Creek Bears will challenge the Purnell Swett Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gray's Creek knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Purnell Swett likes a good challenge.
Gray's Creek is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Douglas Byrd a 22-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Bears have won 13 games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Amariya Green was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Amber Miller was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Purnell Swett beat Lumberton 5-2 on Tuesday. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Kam Locklear was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Chavis, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Purnell Swett hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lumberton struck out ten times.
Gray's Creek pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Purnell Swett, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
