Basketball Game Preview: Annapolis Panthers vs. Meade Mustangs

The Annapolis Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Meade Mustangs at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Annapolis was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 78-73 to Northeast. The Panthers have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Meade came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Bulldogs 60-46. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meade's win came from a few key players Annapolis will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Keon Scott, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Turman, who earned 13 points.

Annapolis now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Meade, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

Annapolis took a serious blow against Meade in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 82-54. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Scott, who went 6 for 9 en route to 18 points along with seven assists and six steals.
