Baseball Recap: Edsel Ford Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Edsel Ford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lincoln Park Railsplitters a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Thunderbirds have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Edsel Ford got a great performance from Harrison OConnor as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave OConnor a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Edsel Ford let Ian Maness and Jacob Kowalsky run wild. Maness went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Kowalsky went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Kowalsky has posted over his last 11 contests. Another player making a difference was Tyler Zelek, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Edsel Ford has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln Park, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-22.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edsel Ford will square off against Allen Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lincoln Park, they will challenge Erie-Mason at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
