Softball Recap: Azle Drops Season-High Score on Saginaw

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Azle). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Saginaw Rough Riders a 16-0 shutout on Friday. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Rough Riders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Fallon Inglet made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Inglet was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Tipton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Schmitt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Azle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Azle's victory bumped their record up to 7-11-2. As for Saginaw, they dropped their record down to 3-19 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Azle will take on rival Granbury at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Saginaw is set to square off against their familiar foe Brewer at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
