Soccer Game Preview: Cumberland Gap vs. Volunteer

The Cumberland Gap Panthers will take on the Volunteer Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cumberland Gap is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Cumberland Gap fell victim to Gatlinburg-Pittman and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Highlanders. While losing is never fun, Cumberland Gap can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Gatlinburg-Pittman are ranked 53rd).

Meanwhile, Volunteer kept a clean sheet against Claiborne on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 9-0 victory. Volunteer might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by four goals or more this season.

Volunteer's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-5. As for Cumberland Gap, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
