Basketball Recap: Mission Comes Up Short

Mission lost against Martin back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mission Eagles fell to the Martin Tigers 52-48.

When it comes to explaining why Mission lost, don't look at Leon Villarreal. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. That was a full 47.9% of Mission's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Pablo Trevino was another key player, going 5 of 12 en route to 13 points.

Mission now has a losing record at 13-14. As for Martin, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season.

Mission wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-48 victory against Roma on the 22nd. Martin has also already played their next contest, a 53-35 loss against Nixon on the 22nd.
