Basketball Recap: South Bend Adams Extends Winning Streak to Eight

While South Bend Adams didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the Huntington North Vikings with a sharp 63-42 win on Thursday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Vikings are ranked 175th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Bend Adams was led to victory by Jarvis Tolbert and Lemonz Jones. Tolbert went 9 of 16 on his way to 23 points, while Jones made all 5 shots he took to post 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalen Allen, who posted 11 points and five assists.

South Bend Adams was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Huntington North lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ethan Zahn, who had 13 points and six boards. Zahn has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Titus Schultz was another key player, putting up 12 points.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Huntington North, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

South Bend Adams wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 71-38 loss against Avon on the 3rd. As for Huntington North, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-64 win against Fort Wayne Snider on the 3rd.
