Football Recap: Okolona Comes Up Short

Okolona played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Calhoun City Wildcats and fell 46-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Chieftains in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost six in a row.

Jaylen Jennings threw for 108 yards and one TD. Jaiydence Herron was his top target, picking up 51 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Calhoun City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaylon Jackson, who rushed for 57 yards and one score, and also picked up 46 receiving yards. Jackson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards.

Okolona's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Calhoun City, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Okolona will take on West Lowndes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Calhoun City, they will challenge Vardaman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
