Basketball Recap: Raymond Central Comes Up Short

Raymond Central extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-4. They took a blow against the Syracuse Rockets, falling 75-24. The Mustangs lost against the Rockets in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 51-41 score last time.

As for Syracuse, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Syracuse's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nolan Gartner led the charge by going 5-for-7 to rack up 13 points in addition to eight steals and five boards. With that strong performance, Gartner is now averaging an impressive 3 steals per game. Maxwell Parde was another key player, as he made all 5 shots he took to post 10 points along with six steals and five assists.

Raymond Central and Malcolm will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Syracuse will take on Nebraska City in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
