Softball Recap: Saugerties' Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Saugerties waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Port Jervis Raiders by a score of 13-9. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Sawyers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2016.

Stefanie Cogswell was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lily Malgieri, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Saugerties hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Saugerties pushed their record up to 13-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Port Jervis, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3.

As of now, neither Saugerties nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
